Dad: So, hey Tom . . . What’s up? Tell me, now that we live in Vancouver, what's it like? What do you do every day?
Tom: Oh, nothing much . . . .
Dad: What? Nothing much? Come on, tell me a little bit about what you do every day.
Tom: You mean, like what time I get up every day, and stuff like that?
Dad: Yes! Exactly! Yes!
Tom: Well, okay. I usually get up at . . . I don’t know. Maybe . . . around 7:30 every morning.
Dad: And that’s why I don’t see you in the mornings.
Tom: Because you leave for work at 7:00, right? You’re already gone when I get up.
Dad: Uh-huh, that’s right. I leave for work quite early, at 6:45. So what time do you leave for school?
Tom: I get out the door at about 8:30. My first class starts at 9:00. I guess I’m lucky, because I don’t have to take a bus to
school, I can walk. It only takes about 20 minutes. I don’t like taking the bus very much.
Dad: That’s great! But when it rains, do you still walk?
Tom: No. Then I catch a bus. And then it just takes a few minutes to get to school. It’s not so far.
Dad: And what time do you have lunch? You eat lunch, right?
Tom: Of course I eat lunch! I eat lunch at noon. I always eat with my friends, and I usually have sandwiches. My best friend,
Omar, likes to eat rice. But we only have 20 minutes for lunch. It’s not very much time.
Dad: No, it’s not. And then what time do you finish school?
Tom: At three. And I’m usually home by three-twenty or three-thirty.
Dad: And then, after you get home . . . ? What do you do then? Do you just sit on the sofa and watch TV?
Tom: Well, no. Mom makes sure I finish my homework before we eat dinner. And after dinner, well, you know – the three
of us play a board game together, or watch TV, . . . or go out to the park to play.
Dad: Hey, I’ve got an idea! We’re already finished dinner. Let’s go out to the park!
Tom: And let’s bring a ball to kick around!
Tom: Oh, nothing much . . . .
